Day Four Preview

A passage to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games awaits the winners of Saturday’s IWRF Wheelchair Rugby European Championship semi-finals in Vejle, Denmark.

Day Four Preview

France and Great Britain are the only undefeated teams after the pool phase and will start strong favourites in their respective matches on day four.

The host nation Denmark takes on France in the first semi-final at 3.30pm local time, while Great Britain meets Sweden for the other place in the gold medal match at 5.45pm.

On current form, Great Britain and France will be expected to progress, but the experienced Danish and Swedish line-ups won’t make it easy.

Crossover matches will also take place for the teams ranked outside the top-two of both pools.

Germany and Switzerland open proceedings at 10am, followed by a clash between Poland and the Netherlands at 12.15pm.

The winning teams will meet in the fifth-sixth playoff on Sunday and guarantee they remain in Europe’s Division A for the 2021 edition of the tournament.

However, the defeated teams will contest the seventh-eighth playoff, which will be their final match before they are relegated back to Division B.

The top-two at the IWRF European Championship Division B will earn promotion into the top flight.

The day four schedule is:

10am: Germany v Switzerland

12.15pm: Poland v The Netherlands

3.30pm: France v Denmark

5.45pm: Great Britain v Sweden
